要旨

Deep Learning is a term to describe the learning of hierarchical representations of data to solve machine learning problems. Although it only recently caught the attention of the larger public and industrial community, it has been investigated with fluctuating interest and under different names already for several decades and is historically rooted in efforts to understand computation in the human brain. This talk will give a brief overview over the main ideas which shaped deep learning as we know it today and explain what distinguishes it from other approaches to machine learning. Additionally, we will give an outlook on the possible future of deep learning and the continuing search for bio-inspired hardware architectures for artificial intelligence applications.
